PeopleSoft Installation

How to Install PeopleSoft Application:

Once you have all the required PeopleSoft Software (Check the download section on how to get the software from Oracle eDelivery section which is available Free). Installing PeopleSoft might be little complex if you do not know the PeopleSoft Architecture, but once you know all the pieces and have a brief idea about what it contains, you can get it installed in less than a week time. However, if you are installing it for the first time, you can refer the step by step notes from the Installation Guides that is available from PeopleSoft Customer Connection.

It is little bit easy to install it Windows Platform (Windows Server or on Windows XP Professional). Also you would need help from a DBA or you can create the DB (using any DB wizard that is available with the Database Software)

You’ll need at the minimum the following hardware and software:

Windows XP Professional

At least of 1 GB RAM

At least of 5 GB space for Files

At Least of 10 GB for Demo Database

Download all of the software that you will need before you start. Get License Codes from Oracle website.

·       All PeopleTools CD’s (there are 7 for PeopleTools 8.49)

·       The latest PeopleTools patch from Customer Connection (optional) You can find it on customer connection under Support > Roadmaps and Schedules > 2007 Maintenance Schedule > PeopleTools

·       The PeopleTools 3rd party products including BEA Tuxedo, a web server (like WebLogic or WebSphere),

·       the HRMS application CD, and possibly the HRMS maintenance pack

·       The PeopleBooks for PeopleTools and HRMS (if you want documentation)

Get Oracle 9i or 10g (if you want Oracle as the Database) software from Oracle website. Install the software and create a Demo Database using the DB Creation Wizard. You can refer the Installation Manual for step by Step guide of how to create a Database.

Here are basic steps in a snapshot:

·       Install PeopleTools (to a file server directory which will be referred to as PS_HOME)

·       Install all latest PeopleTools Patch by checking it at PS CC (this is optional)

·       Install the Application into the PS_HOME directory

·       Install BEA Web Logic Web server

·       Install BEA Tuxedo

·       Install Crystal Reports and Crystal Enterprise

·       Create the application database and load application data

·       Configure the web server, create an application server and process scheduler (batch server) domain

·       Configure Integration Broker and other application components
